Registrars | Resident Medical Officers

Resident Medical Officers are on Tier 1 of New Zealand's Green List which means you are eligible for the Straight to Residence Visa and can apply for New Zealand residency before you arrive, provided you have a job offer from an accredited employer, like us!

About the roles

  • If you are an overseas trained doctor you will need to check your eligibility for registration with the MCNZ to practice medicine in New Zealand. Under General Scope of Practise there are 3 eligible pathways that can simplify the registration proces.

    • New Zealand and Australian graduates pathways

    • Competent pathway, such as the UK and Ireland

    • Comparable health system pathway

  • We’d love to hear from RMOs who want to make a real impact in the community and grow their careers. You’ll need to meet our fit for registration requirements:

    • Resident Medical Officers need to be able to gain registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand

    • Other requirements: An Annual Practicing Certificate is a requirement in order to be employed

  • Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) with one to six years’ experience usually earn $81–160k per year. For more information, refer to the collective agreements below that outlines the remuneration steps:
